Summary of Session: Review of laboratory methods for the diagnosis of hepatitis caused by HAV, HBV, HCV, HDV, HEV and HGV.

Objectives: Upon completion of this Teleconference, participants should be able to:

  • Name the test(s) of choice for the laboratory diagnosis of hepatitis caused by HAV, HBV, and HCV;
  • List the available molecular tests for HBV and HCV infections and describe how they are used; and
  • List the test(s) of choice for the laboratory diagnosis of hepatitis caused by HDV and HEV.

Intended Audience: Division C; medical technologists, clinical microbiologists, primary care and infectious disease physicians, and pathology residents.
