Summary of Session: The lab environment presents a known risk of exposure to microbial hazards by the airborne route. This webcast will utilize examples from everyday lab activities that pose the risk of exposure and propose strategies for risk mitigation.

Objectives: Upon completion of this Teleconference, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss the hazards creating aerosols encountered in a laboratory in order to perform a risk assessment;
  • Review appropriate safety protocols to abate the hazard; and
  • Analyze guidelines, regulations, and standards impacting safe work practices.

Intended Audience: Clinical Microbiology, Division C and Public Health, Division Y.
