Summary of Session: To review the rationale and methods behind performing antimicrobial stewardship in hospital settings

Objectives: Upon completion of this Teleconference, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss the theoretical and practical aspects of hospital antimicrobial stewardship.
  • Differentiate between and appreciate the importance of the roles of each member of the team dedicated to antimicrobial stewardship.
  • Recognize barriers to be anticipated and addressed when performing antimicrobial stewardship in the hospital setting.

Intended Audience: Microbiology staff, Infectious Diseases physicians and pharmacists, Infection Control practitioners
